270 Participate In Fall 2009 Delegate Assembly

Newly-Elected Officers, E-Board and Delegates Sworn In for Two-Year Term

270 members of District 1199 attended the Fall 2009 Delegate Assembly on Wednesday, November 18 at the East Hartford Sheraton. Officers, Elected Organizers, Executive Board members and Delegates from both Connecticut and Rhode Island rose to take the oath of office for a two-year term in office.

More than 5,300 valid mail ballots were cast in the recent election for Officers and E-Board; 739 delegates so far have been elected in workplace voting, with some contests or run-offs to be held soon.

Delegates also cheered the “State of the Union” address delivered by President Carmen Boudier, who was re-elected for her second full term in office. “Despite the continuing problems caused by big state deficits and an economy struggling to recover, the state of our union remains strong,” President Boudier told the enthusiastic crowd. She highlighted both key accomplishments over the 2007-2009 term and key challenges that lie ahead for our union, including the 2010 Gubernatorial elections in both states.
