Notice of Elections and Call for Nominations
A “Notice of Elections and Call for Nominations” was sent by first-class mail to all members of District 1199 on June 26, 2009. The notice reads:
In accordance with Article VIII of the District 1199 Bylaws, elections for the following offices will be held in 2009:
District-Wide Offices President
Secretary-Treasurer
Connecticut OfficesVice-Presidents (7)
Elected Organizers (8)
Executive Board Members (30)
Rhode Island OfficesExecutive Vice-President
Elected Organizers (2)
Executive Board Members (15)
Nominating petitions will be available at the 1199 offices in Hartford, Stamford and Providence beginning Wednesday, July 1st. The petition forms specify the number of signatures required for each office. Completed petitions must be returned to the District Election Board by Wednesday, August 5th.
Notification of the candidates for all offices will be mailed to members by Monday, September 14th.
Ballots will then be mailed to all eligible members at their address of record on Monday, October 5th. Ballots will be counted on Monday, October 26th.
Members will also vote to elect worksite delegates in 2009. In accordance with Article VIII of the District 1199 Bylaws, nominating petitions for worksite delegates will also be available beginning Wednesday, July 1st. Completed petitions must be returned by Wednesday, August 12th.
Notification of the candidates for delegate will be posted at the worksite. Members will vote in delegate elections held at worksites between Tuesday, September 29th and Friday, October 30th, 2009.

Under the Article VIII, Section 2 of the 1199 Bylaws, the Election Board “shall conduct and supervise the Nominations and Elections of the District in accordance with the provisions made therefore by these bylaws and in so doing the Board may adopt such rules, subject to the approval of the District Delegates Assembly, which are necessary to conduct the Nominations and Elections.
