TV Ads Supporting Staffing Bills Hit the Air
Since 1999, our union has been part of a coalition of advocates for nursing home reform known as CCCNHR – the Connecticut Citizens Coalition for Nursing Home Reform. We have worked together for years to improve staffing and require minimum ratios in nursing homes, since that is the number one quality issue for our residents and our long-term care workers. This year, following in the wake of headlines about poor nursing home care linked to short-staffing, our coalition is sponsoring television ads supporting bills now at the legislature that would require ratios and increase staffing minimums at all Connecticut nursing homes. These ads star one of our own – CNA Gloria Plummer, who works at the Wintonbury nursing home.
Ads begin airing Wednesday, February 27, 2008 on Connecticut cable and network broadcast stations. Look for them around your nightly news broadcasts.
