Decisions & Dues:

Members Run the Union

District 1199 members have the right to:

Elect 1199 Officers, Executive Board members and worksite Delegates
Attend local union meetings where members set policy for our leaders to carry out
Vote on contracts that our representatives negotiate

The 1199 Bylaws govern how our organization is run. Changes to the Bylaws must be voted on and approved by members.

DUES GIVE US THE RESOURCES TO WIN
Just like a church, PTA, or bowling league, union members make dues contributions so we have the resources to carry out our programs and priorities. All of our income comes from dues.
Members set the dues levels. Membership dues cannot be changed unless members vote by secret ballot to do so.

Our union is a non-profit organization. Each year, all members receive a financial report outlining income and expenses.
