Spectrum Healthcare--Putting Profits Before Patient Care
When it came time to settle fair contracts with their workers, 25 Connecticut nursing homes did the rigth thing this year. 25 nursing homes signed modest but fair labor agreements with the hard-working people who care for Connecticut's elderly citizens. 25 nursing homes recognized that quality of care starts with the people who treat our most vulnerable citizens every day.
25 nursing homes put the interests of their nursing home residents first.
But not Spectrum Healthcare.
Dedicated staff earned Spectrum a five-star reputation for quality care at their nursing homes. But now Spectrum's corporate management is putting their reputation - and their residents - at risk, by refusing to offer caregivers a fair contract and threatening to replace skilled, trusted caregivers for Connecticut's most frail, elderly residents with inexperienced, untested strangers. Spectrum Healthcare is focusing on the bottom line instead of patient care -
and that's just wrong.
