State Contract Ratified

Statement of Carmen Boudier, President
The New England Health Care Employees Union, District 1199
SEIU Healthcare

On the union’s ratification of the SEBAC agreement and new 1199 contract:

“The overwhelming support our public-sector health care members have given to this new agreement shows their strong dedication to the highest quality of care and services for all Connecticut citizens, no matter what their physical, psychiatric or intellectual challenges.

The large percentage of members who came out to discuss, debate and vote on this contract demonstrates how clearly state health care workers understand the significance of this vote for the future of our services and our jobs.

I am so proud and honored to represent caregivers who understood that this contract includes some very real and painful concessions, but at the same time guarantees our ability to deliver services to our clients and protects our jobs and our benefit structure going forward.

We must now direct our efforts to fighting for a fair state budget. A fair budget must ensure that Connecticut's wealthiest residents pay their fair share of taxes so that vital services are preserved now when people need them the most and into the future.”
