"I support Connecticut's long-term care providers working in group homes, nursing homes, and home care.
Long-term care is hard work. Direct support staff in group homes, home care attendants, and nursing home caregivers are the soul of long-term care. They care for Connecticut's elderly and for people with disabilities, helping individuals lead independent lives with their trusted support.
Group home, nursing home and home care workers deserve a pathway to earn $25 minimum hourly wage. They deserve access to affordable healthcare to care for themselves and their families. And they also deserve to enjoy the benefit of a pension upon retirement after decades of strenuous work caring for others, putting their bodies and their minds on the line.
In solidarity with these heroic caregivers, I demand that the State of Connecticut makes the investments necessary to lift long-term care workers out of poverty!
No More Broken Promises."
